1. Attend the Thursday night meetings, rites (which usually take place during Sunday masses), retreats, and other activities involved in the RCIA process.

2. Meet individually with the RCIA coordinator twice, once as we begin our meetings and again as we approach the time for celebrating the sacraments of initiation.

3. Choose a sponsor. This is a person with whom you can discuss your faith and who will support you as you make this journey. Sponsors can be arranged for persons who need them. Your sponsor must:

• Be an adult who is a confirmed and practicing Catholic.
• Be able to pray and discuss your faith with you.
• Attend our Thursday night meetings with you at least periodically.
• Attend the rites involved in the RCIA process.
• Be someone other than your spouse, significant other, or parent.

4. If you have been previously baptized, you will need to provide a copy of your baptismal certificate or written record of your baptism to St. Michael. Please begin this process as soon as possible as it can take some time to receive these records.

5. Select a patron saint whose name you will take as part of the sacrament of Confirmation. You will write a brief paper stating who your patron saint is and explaining why you chose this saint and how his or her example will inspire your own faith life.

6. Participate in at least one service event taking place at St. Michael.

7. If you or your spouse has been divorced and remarried, or if you have been married outside the Catholic Church, this may affect the process of initiation for you. Please speak to the RCIA coordinator about this immediately so that we can discuss what action may be necessary in your situation.

8. There is a nominal fee of $25 for those participating in the RCIA to help defray the cost of materials which will be given to you during this process.
