St. Michael the Archangel Youth Ministry

This nationwide event raises money for local food banks on Superbowl weekend.  In 1988, a youth group in South Carolina thought up the idea of collecting food or money for the poor and hungry on Superbowl Sunday, a day that we all pig-out.  It has now become a national event with over 15,000 churches participating.  This Superbowl Sunday, we are asking parishioners to donate $1 after Mass to go to the Catholic Charities food pantry in Olathe.  In the 5 years that we have participated, we have raised over $8,500!  Let's keep up the good work!

We need volunteers to come to Mass this weekend and help collect the money after Mass.  All you have to do is hold a  soup pot in the back of the narthex after mass and smile!  Simple job, big results!  Please let me know what mass you are planning on attending and I will sign you up and give you more details.  We would like 2-4 students per mass.

Our monthly Teen Mass will be on Sunday, February 5th at the Noon Mass.  We need people to be greeters and to carry up the gifts.  Look for us at the back of the church and let us know if you can help! Hope to see a lot of you there with your families.

We will not have our teen lunch after mass this month due to the sweet Superbowl Party we will have later that day.  So, if you still want some yummy food, scoot on over to our party.

Come and enjoy the Superbowl festivities with FLOCK!  If you are like me and could care less about the outcome of the actual game, don't worry about it....come and enjoy the commercials instead, as well as other games and good food!  The party starts at kick-off, which is at 5:30pm.  Come for some, come for all, but come and have a good time! 

We will partying this year in the new FLOCK room!  We are going to have tacos for dinner and some great desserts.  Feel free to bring some snacks, but we should have plenty of food.  We'll have all 3 TVs on for the game, but we'll have other board games and card games going on as well as the gym to play in if you want. (Noodle Ball anyone??)  It should be a pretty great night!!

Do you like working with and playing with kids?  Then this service project is for you!  We are giving the parents in our parish the chance to have a  night out on the town without the kiddos.  We will baby-sit the kids on Sat, Feb 11th from 6-10pm at St. Michael.  The parents will gather after the 5pm Mass and drop their kids off in the nursery.

We will have games in the gym, crafts in the art room, movies in the nursery wing and a pizza dinner for them (and you!).  We will need people to work each of these activities, so feel free to work the activity that most appeals to you.

If you are interested in helping, please call or email me so I will know you are coming and so I can give you more info!  We will need you in the nursery (south side of the school building) by 5:45-6pm.  We will need LOTS OF HELP and I promise, you will have tons of fun AND get service hours!!

To manage traffic more effectively on Sunday nights, I have a pick-up request for all parents.  If you pick up your student from FLOCK at the north cafeteria doors, please park in the parking lot and wait until your child comes to you.  All 6th-8th Religious Ed. parents are asked to do the same thing so we are trying to be consistent with them.

If you child leaves FLOCK from the courtyard and goes into the circle driveways or the south parking lot, this does not affect you.  Please be courteous to the other parents waiting to pick up the children by not causing congestion in a pick-up line.  Thank you!!
