Sports Commission

The Sports Commission is being revived and we need volunteers for a number of positions. If you would like to serve on the board, as a committee chair, sports chair or coach, we would like to hear from you.

Due to a school function conflict, our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 1st at 7:30 PM in the Library.

We will meet the first Thursday of each month.

SPORTSMANSHIP 

Sportsmanship shall be top priority!

All coaches, players, parents and spectators shall observe good sportsmanship. The officials & staff will have complete authority to enforce good sportsmanship. Coaches, players, parents who abuse the rules or who fail to demonstrate proper conduct and sportsmanship, will be subject to a disciplinary hearing with the Sports Commission board which could result in immediate suspension.

Mission Statement  

Any SMA parishioner in the 4th-8th grade may participate in CYO sports. "The mission of CYO & SMA is to offer all, who are eligible, the opportunity to participate in all the SMA CYO sponsored programs. Participation, in the athletic events, is to be considered primary. 'Competition and winning' are by-products of participating and are of lesser importance. Participation, complete honesty and fair play, demonstrated by coaches of unquestionable Christian and Moral Character provide youth with direction to grow in the image of Christ."

The SMA Sports Commission is the designated body for the Parish CYO sports that identifies and provides leadership.  The Objective is to offer direction and guidance for the development of our parish youth through the CYO sports programs and guidelines.

The Sports Commission influences the development and direction of the CYO sports programs for the parish  The commission members oversee every aspect of  the CYO sports in the parish, from identifying each sports program, promoting it, overseeing it.
