At St. Michael the Archangel, our Children's Choirs are a vital and vibrant part of our music ministry program. It is at this level that the music ministers of tomorrow receive their initial musical, liturgical, and spiritual formation. Our young singers are not simply the future faces of our Church's music ministry - they offer songs of praise to God and joyfully serve our parish community in the present!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, congregational singing and our music ministry activities have been suspended. We eagerly await the safe return of singing and our choral ministries! Updates about how and when our children's choir ministries will resume will be added to this page as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and support!
The St. Nicholas Choir is our beginning children's choir for singers in grades 1-3, under the direction of Mr. Dan Klocke. This choir meets one day a week after school during two 6-week rehearsal terms, and sings with the St. Michael Choristers at the 4:00 pm Christmas Eve Mass and the 10:30 am Mass on Mother's Day.
Singers from all schools - parish, public, and home - are welcome to join the St. Nicholas Choir.
The St. Michael Choristers is our upper-level children's choir for singers in grades 4-8, under the direction of Dr. Kevin Vogt and Mr. Dan Klocke. Musically advanced 3rd graders may be allowed to participate with permission of the directors. Membership is limited to 24 singers.
Our choristers receive a comprehensive musical, liturgical, and spiritual training. This training prepares them to sing with the adult choir at the 10:30 am Mass on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month, from October through May. In addition, the St. Michael Choristers sing with the St. Nicholas Choir on Christmas Eve and Mother's Day.
Choristers who attend St. Michael the Archangel Parish School rehearse before school 4 mornings a week during the school year.
Choristers who attend public or home schools rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 6:45 pm.
