At St. Michael the Archangel, our Children's Choirs are a vital and vibrant part of our music ministry program. It is at this level that the music ministers of tomorrow receive their initial musical, liturgical, and spiritual formation. Our young singers are not simply the future faces of our Church's music ministry - they offer songs of praise to God and joyfully serve our parish community in the present!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our music ministry activities were suspended for the 2020-2021 ministry year. This summer, we welcomed cantors back to active ministry and are resuming our parish choir ministries in the fall. To ensure the safety of our singers and community, we are continuing to monitor public health guidance and will adjust our music ministry activities as needed.

The St. Nicholas Choir is our beginning children's choir for singers in grades 1-3, under the direction of Mr. Dan Klocke. This choir meets one day a week after school during one or two 6-week rehearsal terms each school year. These short and focused rehearsal terms prepare the choir to sing at a Sunday Mass together wiht the St. Michael Choristers.
Singers from all schools - parish, public, and home - are welcome to join the St. Nicholas Choir.
The St. Michael Choristers is our upper-level children's choir for singers in grades 4-8, under the direction of Dr. Kevin Vogt and Mr. Dan Klocke. Musically advanced 3rd graders may be allowed to participate with permission of the directors. Membership is limited to 24 singers.
Our choristers receive a comprehensive musical, liturgical, and spiritual training. This training prepares them to sing at the 9:00 am Mass once or twice each month from October through May. In addition, the St. Michael Choristers sing at the 4:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve and the 10:30 am Mass on Mother's Day.
Choristers rehearse before school 4 mornings a week during the school year from 7:15 - 7:50 am.
