"Healing the Divorced Heart"
Divorce Support Group
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church
1st & 3rd Wednesday of each month
7:00 P.M.- Gabriel Room (lower level of the parish)
You are not alone... join us!
We who have experienced divorce understand, as perhaps few others can. We, too, were sad, lonely, scared, and angry, but we have found that with God, time, and the support of others, healing is possible.
Healing the Divorced Heart is a support group that openly professes our faith in Jesus and his power to heal us. We provide a safe, loving, welcoming, non-judgmental place where those affected by divorce can feel comfortable sharing their experience, strength, and hope. Many of us share our Catholic faith (we come from surrounding parishes); however, the group is open to anyone. Please plan for 60-minute meetings.
At each meeting, we read a meditation from the book Healing the Divorced Heart and have time to share. Topics include shock, denial, guilt, loneliness, forgiveness, and many more. Copies of the mediation will be available.

Beginning Experience is a peer grief ministry for separated, divorced, and widowed persons. The loss of a loved one through separation, divorce, or death is one of life’s most traumatic experiences and can result in nearly unbearable feelings of loneliness and grief. Many people who have suffered this loss feel left out by their church, uneasy around married friends, unsure of themselves, and uncertain about their futures.

At St. Michael and any Catholic parish, your designated minister can assist you with the information and assistance on receiving an annulment after a divorce. For a Catholic to re-marry in the Catholic Church, there must be a declaration of nullity from their local Tribunal. The marriage will still have been valid civilly, but after further examination, may, in fact, be invalid sacramentally.
The USCCB states that "For a Catholic marriage to be valid, it is required that:
(1) the spouses are free to marry;
(2) they are capable of giving their consent to marry;
(3) they freely exchange their consent;
(4) in consenting to marry, they have the intention to marry for life, to be faithful to one another, and to be open to children;
(5) they intend the good of each other;
(6) their consent is given in the presence of two witnesses and before a properly authorized Church minister. "
During the annulment process, your Tribunal office is seeking evidence that one of the essential requirements above was missing, which would determine that the marriage was not actually brought about on the wedding day. This process begins by meeting with your priest, deacon, or lay minister to work through and submit the required documents. Contact our Parish office at 913-402-3900, to set up an appointment with one of our Priests.
