Your child’s health and safety are our top priority. We are taking every precaution, within reason, to provide a safe environment at EDGE. We promise to do our part in creating a safe space for your child to encounter our living God while diving deeper with other students in conversation and an inviting community. We have taken the following precautions to keep everyone safe at EDGE:
Check-In Stations:
We will have stations to check-in teens as they arrive. At these stations we will have Core Team members there to welcome them, check temperatures and direct them to where their small group is located for the night.
Temperature Checks:
As students arrive each night their temperature will be checked. If a student has a raised temperature, they will be asked to return home.
Outside:
All of our EDGE Nights will be outside when possible. While outside, we will practice social distancing. If being socially distant isn’t possible, masks will be worn. We have planned all of our nights to meet guidelines and mandates as well as keeping your child’s safety as the utmost importance. During times of transition (ex: moving from large group to small group), masks must be worn. While in small groups, which are consistent through the whole year, masks will not be required, but we will still be distancing ourselves. If for any reason we are inside, we will require masks to be worn.
Inside:
With inclement weather and when the weather begins to get cold we will have to move inside. To maintain social distancing between small groups we will be utilizing the school gym as our primary meeting space. Teens will check-in and be directed straight to their assigned small group area within the gym. Throughout the EDGE night they will remain within their small group for the game, announcements, bible study, message proclaim and small group discussion. During transition from the message proclaim into small group discussion we will have all teens wear their mask until they are settled in their designated area.
Thank you for sharing these with your child and talking about the importance of following them. As with anything, there is some level of risk in sending your child to EDGE, by sending your child, you are accepting that inherent level of risk.
Especially in these times, and within our ministry, sharing in the communal life is at the core of what we do. With that we are establishing small groups to follow along with the in-person EDGE sessions, break down the topics and build relationships towards the foundation of St Michael's being a place of refuge and another home through High School. In the next few weeks we will be following up to establish these small groups and work with the schedules of our Core Team (adult and high school small group leaders) and our EDGE teens.
