This is a peer grief ministry for separated, divorced and widowed persons. The loss of a loved one through separation, divorce, or death is one of life’s most traumatic experiences. It can result in nearly unbearable feelings of loneliness and grief. Many people who have suffered this loss feel left out by their church, uneasy around married friends, unsure of themselves and uncertain about their futures.
Beginning Experience of Greater Kansas City offers two programs.
Moving Forward with Hope, Coping with Life Alone is a 10-week, online program for persons who have experienced a recent loss;
Weekend is a two-night, in person retreat for those who have completed the Moving Forward program or for those persons whose loss is not so recent.

Grief support groups are free and available to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss. Generally, they meet once or twice a month year round. These groups are beneficial because they provide a place to begin sharing your grief with others who have suffered a loss. They also promote building long-term supportive relationships.
The following is a list of on-going grief support groups located throughout the area. Contact locations directly for more information.
