Knights of Columbus are Catholic gentlemen who value our belief in the Roman Catholic Church, promoting our Christian beliefs through our example in the works of charity and support of our Parishes, Priests and families. St. Michael the Archangel Knights of Columbus Council 12577 is a member of the national Knights of Columbus organization. Our Knights council supports the St. Michael the Archangel Parish community in Leawood, KS, its families and religious orders by volunteering in support of parish activities and hosting a variety of social events and fundraisers. Despite the pandemic, we’ve been active this year:
-In July and August, our Football Raffle tickets raised over $5,000 to support seminarians, religious and missionary priests. -In September, we prepared and served all the food for the Parish Picnic. -In October and November we partnered with the American Heritage girls for our annual Tootsie Roll drive and raised $1,800 for Knights’ support for those with developmental disabilities; with $1,436 of that going to iCare Ministries (Inclusive Catholic Activities and Religious Experiences), a local ministry which provides adapted Masses (live streaming and in-person), sacramental preparation, ongoing faith formation and social events for persons of all ages with developmental disabilities. -Our Advent Calendar drive raised over $3,200 for the Knights Coats for Kids program. -Our annual Turkey collection for Catholic Charities brought in 500 turkeys, over $6,000 in donations, and almost four tons of food.
