Our parish is here to support you and offer guidance through the Catholic funeral rite, including the Vigil Service (Wake), Funeral Mass, and Christian Burial for your loved one. If your loved one has passed, please contact the parish as soon as you are able: 913-402-3900.
Our Pastoral Care Ministry Coordinator will coordinate efforts with our staffs, celebrating priest, and any applicable funeral home. The Coordinator will put you in touch with a priest for spiritual support and to begin the funeral planning process, including music and liturgy guidance.
To get further information on pre-arranging details for yourself or with a loved one, please contact our Parish Office at 913-402-3900.
When meeting with the Priest, your family will be assisted in planning the liturgy. We encourage you to review the following scripture passages and music and decide what you want to include in the liturgy. Sometimes, families prefer that the Priest and liturgy director make the selections; we are happy to assist.

Catholic Cemeteries of Northeast Kansas
Catholic Cemeteries of Northeast Kansas, a ministry of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, assists Catholics with funeral and burial pre-arrangement as well as with cemetery, mausoleum and columbarium needs for families facing the loss of a loved one. Among many benefits, Catholic Cemeteries can help you pre-arrange your end-of-life plans to suit your preferences and to save your family the stress of making these decisions at a later date. See their website, https://cathcemks.org, for more helpful information.
The Parish does offer an opportunity for a Funeral Luncheon, provided by dedicated volunteers. Our standard meal is sandwiches, various salads, beverages, and dessert.
Optional donations of $3/person accepted to replenish supplies and staple kitchen items for these events. (See your St. Michael's Funeral Financial Consideration Guide, for more information.)
who wept at the death of your friend
and taught that they who mourn shall be comforted,
grant us the comfort of your presence in our loss.
Send Your Holy Spirit to direct us
lest we make hasty or foolish decisions.
Send Your Spirit to give us courage
lest through fear we recoil from living.
Send Your Spirit to bring us your peace
lest bitterness, false guilt, or regret take root in our hearts.
The Lord has given.
The Lord has taken away.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Amen.
