Our cantors and organists will sit among the members of the congregation for the remainder of the Summer until the end of September. During this time, the choir loft will be sealed off to be prepared for the arrival of the new organ next year. This preparation will involve making the walls of the choir loft denser, installing a tile floor to match the rest of the church, and constructing permanent risers that will someday hold white oak choir stalls to match the organ. The end goal is to complete this unfinished area of our church as a formal liturgical space, always ready for prayer, particularly the communal celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours. For the next three months, the first pew in the South Transept closest to the baptistry will be reserved for the cantor and organist. Thank you for your understanding and hospitality toward our music ministers.
