1. In-Person 1-6th grade RE: 1st-6th grade students will meet in person, in the church. We have been meeting in the church for the past 2 years, and since the church is already sectioned off for "Social Distancing", we will remain in the church for the entire 60 minutes of class time. Each grade will be assigned to a distinct area of the church, and the children will sit in their assigned place in an assigned pew. Masks are to be worn coming into and leaving the church, and at all times in the church. Please contact our office if your child has a medical exemption.
We will begin as we have in the past with Evening Prayer and the weekly "Little Catechesis" which highlights where we are in the Liturgical (Church) Year including Saint's Feast Days, Church Seasons, Holy Days, and seasonal devotions. Remaining in the Church, we will then break into grade-level groups for a chapter lesson from our Faith and Life textbooks.
The goal is to provide, in this time of unpredictability, an opportunity for the children to spend time with Our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the calm in any storm. This RE hour will focus on listening to God through our prayers, meditations, and catechism lessons. Parents are always welcome to stay and pray with us!
In-Person Kindergarten ONLY- Catechesis of the Good Shepherd: Classes will meet in the CGS Atriums in the school. Diane Jones, CGS Coordinator will contact those Kindergarten families who register. Classes are limited to 8 students per weekly session. Masks are required, and the room will be marked off for social distancing. Contact Diane for more information at (913) 402-3941.
2. Pre-Recorded 1-6th grade RE Lessons: Linked in the RE Weekly Newsletter, and using our Faith and Life textbook, these sessions will be led by a St. Michael the Archangel Certified RE Volunteer Catechist or Staff member, and may be viewed at a time convenient to the child and family. Activities will be linked and may be turned in via email.
3. Online RE: Using our Faith and Life textbooks hosted by My Catholic Faith Delivered online interactive platform, this option is for parents who want the full online interactive textbook experience including assessments and games. Please call Jane Gregory at (913) 402-3947 to choose this option.
All students are to register using the same form. For more information, please contact us!
